Internet of Things? What Things?
Internet of Things (IoT) What is IOT and why is it in my things? Well, let's clarify that the internet is not in your things... not really. Internet of things, according to the class lectures, "[...] consists of computing devices imbedded in everyday objects [...] enabling them to send and receive data." There are two categories that IoT devices can be put in Smart home and connected home. A smart home is a device that serves as a hub for all devices within a home. On the other hand, connected devices are multiple devices in use within a home. These days we have many sources of Iot in our homes. Now, we have smart refrigerators, smart ovens, and even smart clocks. I used to think this was all because we were lazy but i have now noticed that a lot of the appeal is in personalization. I agree! Justice for Armstrong! I appreciate that even after his first technological breakthrough was credited to another person, that he still followed his passion and made yet another technological breakthrough. It is sad that he wasn't credited before he passed away. It was a revolutionary invention, that would lead to many more technological advancements in the near future.
ReplyDeleteI found Edwin Armstrong's story to be very interesting. It's astonishing that I have never heard of him or learned about him in school until now. It's amazing how he created the regenerative circuit out of cylinders and pumps. Electrical engineering is a hard thing to work at, and he did it! I hate how he received no credit. Justice for Armstrong!
ReplyDeleteEdwin Armstrong’s story was tragic because he passed before getting the credit he deserved. We have him to thank for our advancement in FM radio, yet his case was lost to a man who imitated and took credit his creation for the sole purpose of making more money. R.I.P Armstrong.
DeleteHi Charlize! I feel like we would be no where today without Edward Armstrong and his magnificent inventions. Its weird to think that his inventions led to other things like WIFI and cellphones, as you stated above. I'm just happy that now he is receiving credit for his inventions and his legacy will carry on for many more year to come!
DeleteHi Charlize, I agree with you that Edward Armstrong is deserving of more respect! WiFi and smart phones are necessary to society today and it's hard to think of a world without those technologies. It's truly a shame credit was not given when Armstrong was alive.
